Welcome to my art site. I will post progress and the final product. I hope you enjoy!
Identity Collage
This self portrait was really important to me. I wanted it to look realistically like me, but I also wanted people to see my creative side. I made my face black and white because I always like to do projects differently. I want to always go above and beyond. I made my eyes, lips, and brows colorful to contrast the black and white. I also made my background out of flowers because they are beautiful and vibrant. I love it when my art catches people’s eyes.
When looking at my project and others, I could see the differences that make them special just like everyone’s personalities. I could definetly see how my personality showed in my work and I hope others see that too. I hope others see that I am bright and articulate by looking at my art.
When working on my project, I was looking at the original picture to try to get the shadows correct. My project and the picture both look like me, but the project allowed me to express myself and my ideas.

Real Anatomy of Technology
This project was frustrating to start. I had an idea in my head and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to execute it well. I really wanted my project to be beautiful and not too gory like the examples I saw.
My project is very unusual. I made phone apps appear in the eye. It represents the recent connection to phones and social media. It is like people are always looking at their phones. The scribbles in the background represents the mind. Our minds are always jumbled and spinning. I relate this back to social media. Social media has effects on the brain and people’s feelings.
Three types of technology my family couldn’t do without is our computer, our equipment, and our vehicles. These things are essential for my parents to do their jobs and to get everything we need to survive.
If technology went away, everyone would be affected dramatically. Almost everything would be harder. School, work, travel, communication would be significantly harder. I would not be able to take some of my classes in school, I probably would not be able to drive to school. My family would have to find different jobs. Survival would be possible but a lot harder.
I interviewed my mom about technology. She was born in 1970, so things were very different at that time. She said that in high school, they had apple computers in the computer lab. They were taught how to code and they used them to do research papers. She believes technology is negative and positive. She said that with our cell phones, we have a whole world of information at our fingertips at all times. She find it amazing and helpful. She feels that it is negative because of the disconnection that happens between people because of the distraction of phones. However, she relies extremely on technology. She uses her phone and computer everyday for information and research. She is very happy that google was created.
This project was very fun. I really love drawing, so I enjoyed it tremendously. I also love drawing eyes and seeing it come together.
Value of Words
I had a lot of fun making this project. I liked that it was different. When making my work of art, I tried to use as many different words as possible. I did repeat a few but a lot of them are not. I chose to do mountains because I love being in the mountains. I tried to make the words relate to the area they were in in different ways. For example, I tried to convey that the mountains are beautiful, but also dangerous. I also added an element of environmental awareness.
I believe art works do not always need descriptions. It is up to the artist. Some artists want the viewer to see the piece in their own way and some artists want the viewer to understand why they made the piece.
Including words in art helps make it more interesting. Not only is it showing you something, it is saying something through language. It can help convey a message that you wouldn’t see by just looking at a piece of art.
I added some personal information through words in this project and I think it makes it more interesting. I hope you enjoy.

Printmaking
I liked this project because it got me out of my comfort zone and it turned out great. I love what I did with it. I put “Feminist” in it because feminism is really important to me and I consider myself a feminist. I thought doing the flowers in the background made the piece more interesting.
I enjoyed carving out the design. At first, it was hard to get the hang of, but then I got used to it. Doing the words was very easy for me. The flowers were the hardest. Carving out all the flowers was time consuming and doing curves was difficult at first.
When printing, I had some difficulty because I really wanted it to be perfect. I couldn’t get it perfect, so I accepted that the imperfections add character. I learned that I had to wash my carving after every print so that I didn’t get ink in the white lines. I also learned that the ink will not completely dry. It was hard to handle my pieces without smudging them.
This project was a great experience to have. I hope to be able to do more printmaking in the future.

Art for Awareness
This project was really fun to do. I decided to do something a little different, pop art. I thought going this way would make my point really pop. This project challenged me because I used paint so I had to be really precise.
I am very passionate about equality. I think everyone should be equal. Not only the sexes, but everyone who is considered a “minority.” I have never understood how some people are treated terribly for no reason. As long as people are being kind and decent, why does it matter where they come from or what they believe.
The other perspective on this issue is that people say that everyone is already equal. This may be true around them, but all over the world, people are treated badly for being who they are. There are even many instances in the United States of inequality and we are a highly developed country.
This project was important to me, so I wanted to make it good. I like the way it turned out.
